Join us for our Women's Bar Leader Summit, Strength Across Borders, as we present, in partnership with the Law Society of Upper Canada, an opportunity to network with your colleagues from the United States and Canada while sharing ideas and best practices for strengthening women's bar associations. Topics will include how women's bar associations can make a difference in combating sex trafficking, and how women do or do not support other women in the legal profession. We'll learn about the Law Society of Upper Canada's pilot project to retain and advance women lawyers in private practice. We'll have practical tips, including free or inexpensive tools for your association. We'll honor the winners of the 2011 Public Service and Outstanding Member Program Awards, and we'll hear from attendees about the challenges and best performances at Osgood Hall.
At our awards luncheon, we will be honoring the recipients of the 2011 Public Service Award: Central New York Chapter of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York for their Domestic Violence Law Clinic and the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles' "Power Lunch Program." Recipients of the Outstanding Member Program Award are the Lawyers Club of San Diego's "Pipeline to Leadership" Securing Spots on Boards and Commissions," the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts "Fee Circles" and the Women's Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association for their annual "Winter Break."
Presenters Anne Litwin, PhD, Deborah Epstein Henry, founder of FlexTime Lawyers, LLC, Lisa Borsook, Managing Partner, WeirFoulds LLP and Rear Admiral Nanette DeRenzi will share their thoughts on the topic of women supporting other women. Stories of senior women failing to support junior women, junior women undermining senior women, female in-house counsel failing to give business to women in firms. Our presenters will look at the issues and suggest ideas for programs and strategies that organizations can implement to assist women attorneys in more effectively supporting one another
